![]() ![]() In this context, the main pressures that need to be effectively addressed, concern the sectors of freshwater supply, sewage, and public health the sector of energy the infrastructures that are susceptible to natural disasters the protection of open and green spaces the regulation of land uses and the sector of urban mobility. ![]() Emphasis is placed on the limitation of poverty by reducing urban population living in slums the decrease of GHG emissions and improvement of air quality the accessibility to public transportation means and open public/green spaces the efficient waste management the allocation and adequacy of residential areas and infrastructures the limitation of urban sprawl and consequent environmental impacts the creation of job opportunities the elimination of vulnerability to natural disasters the establishment of modern and sustainable buildings and the reinforcement of telecommunications sector. SDG 11 “Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable” builds on the concepts of urban sustainability, citizens’ well-being, social coherence, participation, and efficient use of available resources.
